Face to Face Friends

“That which (Who) was from the beginning, which (Who) we have heard, which (Who) we have seen with our eyes, which (Who) we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The Life appeared; we have seen it (Him) and testify to it (Him) and we proclaim to you the Eternal Life which (Who) was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.” 1 John 1;1-4 (NIV)

“I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.”  2 John 1:12 (NIV)

and again…

“I have much to write you, but I do not want to do so with pen and ink. I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face. Peace to you. The friends here send their greetings. Greet the friends there by name.” 3 John 1:13,14 (NIV)

Dear Face to Face God,

You are the Man-God come down so we could see Your face and live. Your Incarnation allowed the few, and happy few, to see Your face and wonder at a Savior Who restricted Himself to a human body and world such as ours. Your Face was loved, then hated and marred more than any other. But because You wanted a face to face relationship with us You set Your face like flint to die in our place.

We long to finally see Your face and thank you face to face for giving us Yourself. Jesus, when others look at our face may they see a glimpse of Yours shining back.

And until You return, make our joy complete as we treasure the faces of fellow believers who resemble You. Help us remember Your face when we don’t see eye to eye with each other. And may we never take for granted face time with these dear ones, our bit of Heaven on earth.

In Jesus Name Forever
