“LORD, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty; Nor do I involve myself in great matters, Or in things too difficult for me. Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; Like a weaned child rests against his mother, My soul is like a weaned child within me. O Israel hope in the LORD, From this time forth and forever.” Psalm 131 (NASB, 1995)
Dear Humble Jesus,
You satisfy our soul. Those once driven, agitated and fearful are stilled and quieted within, serene without. You have taught us the largesse and beauty of simplicity. You have unfolded the layer upon layers of blessing to be had in waiting for You and with You. You are Deity come down, content to be one of us in order to be one with us.
A quiet enfolds us as we peer into a stable. Along with adoring parents and wide-eyed shepherds, we behold what any pilgrim may—the Savior of the world sleeping in the hay. Surely we are satisfied by the One Who weaned us from relentless striving. We have found the place of contentment. It’s being wherever You are. Stable or palace, it’s my home.
