A Wilderness Refuge

“A voice of one calling: ‘In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord;
make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up,
every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level,
the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed,
and all people will see it together.’
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” Isaiah 40:3-5 (NIV)

Dear Lord,

We come out of the wild world to You, our place of Refuge and Delight. We are awash with peace just hearing You calling our name. Our names are safe on Your lips and in Your mouth, for Your Own hand inked them into Your Book of Life. No one speaks our name as lovingly as You do. No one else has the effect on us that You do. Whether we get it “right,” or when we are failing and flailing; You are always drawing us back into Yourself.

Being with You is an invitation into life in all its fullness. To meet with You stills our restless hearts. You are the Exit from our endless round-about of busyness. You light the way to the door of Your heart and give us our very own front door key. Oh, Great Love, let the pathway between our minds meeting be well worn from use and never overgrown.

Raise a song of praise from the depths of our being. Make these tired hearts thrill. In this crazy world, You are the Sanity and the Soundness of our Mind! You are our Inspiration. Let the world see us living life freely, fearlessly, faithfully.! And why not? We know the One Who plans and safeguards our every step.
