Do the Math

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures, we might have hope.May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together, you may with one voice, glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Romans 15:4-6 (ESV)

Dear Author of All Truth,

Many are living according to their own version of the “truth,” even when it is contradicted by simple logic and common sense. We are heartbroken over what we see, for we know You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life in all things. Some of Your truths instruct us how to do basic math, while Your highest truths lead us to find eternal life! Because Your truths are being rejected, we find people who cannot even do basic math. They do not know their right hand from their left (Jon. 4:11). Our world is in a pitiable state. But You are the God Who pities His children (Ps.103:13) Pity us now!

Amid this present insanity, we pledge ourselves to proclaim and live the truth of Your Word. Like Peter, perplexed by a hard statement, we say with him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life (John. 6:68). You are the One Who tells the future long before it happens (Jn.13:19). You named Cyrus, 150 years before his day, and ordained all he would do, according to Your plans (Is. 44:28). You are the One Who tells us our own story and how we came into Your story! You are the One to watch! You are the One to listen to, the One to Whom we will submit. Yours is the great, and glorious plan! You are the Mathematician, the Physicist, the Chemist, the Rocket Scientist, the Creator, the Teacher, the Encourager, and the Giver of the Blessed Hope, our Redeemer! Jesus, You are the Encouraging, Living Word! Come, and speak to us now! Your servants are listening! We can do the math! It adds up to finding You!

In Jesus Name Forever
