“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires…
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.”
James 1:19-25 (NIV)
Dear Beautiful Jesus,
You are our Perfection. We are meant to be the moon to Your Sun, reflecting You to a world that gets it wrong. And what is the history of this world if not a record of human anger that ends in division and destruction.
Only You change the human heart. If we had goodness of our own our response to evil would be just and produce righteousness, peace and goodness.
Lord, forgive us for being futile “fixers” and not messengers of the One Truth that sets people truly free. Jesus, Emancipator of the soul, mind and body, emancipate us Your way! Let the message of the gospel be our response to our sin and that of others.
We bow the knee only to You. Let us get back to the business that is our business — sharing You, the Gift of eternal life, to whoever will believe.
In Jesus Name Forever
