Wise Love

God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:8-11 (NIV)

Dear Wise Love,

In the world, people are falling in and out of love daily. The world is careless with love. But true love happens because we have gained the knowledge that someone has worth and is to be desired, valued, sought, and cherished. You have cautioned us not to awaken love before its time, because love takes time, not falling. You have taught us that to love is to be selfless, hoping all things, believing all things, and never failing. The responsibility of loving demands that we have Your wisdom from above. It is a decision of the will to an enduring commitment to the highest good of the one loved. Love holds fast despite circumstance or feeling or cost. Making the decision to love requires us to be the best selves we can strive to be. It is to be like You!

The beginning of wisdom is to fear You and learning how to love must follow that wisdom. Pull us into Yourself, or we can do nothing, least of all, love others. Jesus, we desire to love You intelligently because we know Who You are. Loving You is the first love that makes loving others possible. In wisdom we embrace You now, the One we have beheld and now know and now love. You give us Your complete attention. You are fully in the moment with us. As we cling to You, wisdom assures us that You aren’t looking over our shoulder for someone better to love. Because we know the reality of Your wise love, we aren’t looking over Yours either.

In Jesus Name Forever
