“Now the Lord had said to Moses… ‘Go back to Egypt, for all those who wanted to kill you are dead.’ So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand…
… Moses and Aaron brought together all the elders of the Israelites, and Aaron told them everything the Lord had said to Moses. He also performed the signs before the people, and they believed. And when they heard that the Lord was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped.” Exodus 4:19,20,29-31 (NIV)
Dear God Who Sees,
You see the fear lurking in our hearts and homes. You see the chaos in the streets. In the past You sent Moses, armed with Your staff, to lead Israel out of Egypt. Later You sent Your Son, armed with another kind of staff, a cross. He took the battle to the gates of hell to free us from our inner Egypt. It is not from a place but from whom and what we’d become on the inside.
We were permanently broken in the Fall. Our nature was bent, evidenced by our desire to “fix” things by destroying things. We need Your cross as much as ever! We need the Blood of the Lamb painted on every heart’s doorway through the message of Your Gospel! Wash us until we are totally covered and cleansed in the innermost parts. Then we will all be the same color where it counts, in our hearts.
We need Your Spirit and a new nature in order to share the Gospel — JESUS SAVES! When some see red, they are angry. But Father, when You see red, You see Your children, covered by Jesus’ love. Father, make our world red.
In Jesus Name Forever
I love the picture of his blood on the door of our hearts paralleling the blood of the Passover doors. The boys seem to have “got it” when we did PAssover/Easter together. It’s such a powerful picture!
