Who’s Pulling?

“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

“Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to His beloved.” Psalm 127:1,2 (NIV)

Dear Shepherd,

Your words speak truth and comfort to my soul. How often this sheep thinks to take on burdens belonging to an oxen, wonderingly all the while why the plow won’t pull.

Lord, You aren’t sending us out to do Your job. Let me learn what You are asking— that I come, cast my burdens on You, learn humility and gentleness, and walk closely, bound to Your side.

Fashion this day, our character and life. Keep us, keeping You at the center of all things. The only yoke we want is the weight of Your hand on our shoulder and the feel of Your love in our heart.

In Jesus Name Forever
