A Heart Transplant

“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new Spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be My people, and I will be your God.”
Ezekiel 36:25-28 (NIV)

Dear Heart Surgeon,

We needed a new heart but there was no donor, no match adequate for our desperate need. We needed more than a heart to merely pump our blood. We needed a heart that would be like Yours; one that would pursue You, Life itself. We needed the kind of heart that could enable us to choose to live as we were originally created to live, as we ought to live with You. We needed a heart that beats with eternal life and takes us home to glory. We needed Yours. You became not only as the the Great Physician, the Surgeon but the Donor as well! You Alone bring the spiritually dead to life!

You did not gown-up or enter the operating theatre. No, You did what only You could and would do. You set aside Your gown of glory and entered the theatre of death, judgement and suffering. You came for the sake of those beyond hope, the already-dead in sin and failure. Who can save those already dead? Who would even try? You! You did, Our LORD and GOD!

And the patient, all the patients, lived! All who receive this Gift of Life from You receive a new heart that beats and will never die! All who are known to You through Your sacrifice, Your heart in them, are Your Own living children! Oh amazing God, let us embrace this new life back from death and follow the beat of our new heart wherever You lead us! And the Beat goes on, and on and on! Hallelujah!
